About Card Lounge

Card Lounge is a free card games website. Its tagline, "Classic card games, dealt fresh", sums up the idea: familiar games with clear rules, ready to play in your browser whenever you have a few minutes or a quiet evening.

What you will find here

• 10 games in 13 modes. Klondike (Draw 1 and Draw 3), Spider (one, two and four suits), FreeCell, Pyramid, TriPeaks, Golf, Yukon, Blackjack, Higher or Lower and Memory Pairs. They are all listed in the game directory, and each can be played on the home page board or on its own page.
• Free to play, with no account. There is nothing to sign up for. Open a game and deal.
• Progress kept in your browser. A round in progress is saved automatically, and each mode keeps its own statistics. Everything is stored in your own browser rather than in an account.
• Original artwork. The court cards, card back and table felt were made for Card Lounge. Read more on the card art page.
• Guides and a blog. How to play, Compare the games, the strategy guide, the glossary and the Card Lounge blog.

How the games work

Each game follows a fixed set of rules that is the same for every deal. Cards are shuffled with a seeded generator, and every deal shows its deal number so that it can be replayed. The solitaire games share one set of controls: tap or click, drag and drop, unlimited undo, hints and an Auto move button, with keyboard shortcuts as well. When no legal move can change the position, the game tells you "No moves left" instead of leaving you searching for a move that does not exist.

How the articles are made

The guides and blog articles are written for Card Lounge and checked against the actual rules of the games as they work on this site. When an article says that only a King can fill an empty column in Klondike, or that Golf has no wrap between King and Ace, that is exactly how the game in front of you behaves.

If you ever find an article and a game that disagree, the contact page explains what to include in a report.

No money, no prizes

Card Lounge is entertainment only. Nothing can be bought, and nothing can be won apart from the satisfaction of a cleared table. Blackjack uses play chips: you start with 1,000, you can reset them to 1,000 between hands, and they have no value. The terms of use set this out in full.

Your privacy

Because there are no accounts, Card Lounge does not ask for your name, email address or password. Saved rounds, statistics and settings live in your browser's local storage. The privacy page explains what is stored and how to clear it.
